Dr. Wachter coined the term “hospitalist” in 1996 and is often considered the “father” of the hospitalist field, the fastest-growing medical specialty in U.S. history. He is the author of 300 articles and 6 books, including Understanding Patient Safety and The Digital Doctor: Hope, Hype and Harm at the Dawn of Medicine’s Computer Age, which was a New York Times science bestseller. In 2004, Dr. Wachter received the John M. Eisenberg Award, the nation’s top honor in patient safety. Thirteen times, Modern Healthcare magazine has ranked him as one of the 50 most influential physician-executives in the U.S. Dr. Wachter is a Master of the American College of Physicians and an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Chandra is the Phase 3 Director for Sidney Kimmel Medical College and the Program Director for the Telehealth and Digital Health certificate programs at Thomas Jefferson University. She is part of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) advisory committee for creating telehealth competencies and has presented telehealth topics various conferences such as at HIMSS, SEARCH, and CORD.
Dr. Arora is an academic hospitalist. As Associate Chief Medical Officer for Clinical Learning Environment, she bridges educational and hospital leadership to engage frontline staff into the institutional quality, safety, and value mission. Dr. Arora is principal investigator of numerous NIH grants to evaluate novel interventions that combine systems change with learning theory to improve care in teaching hospitals. She is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and an advocate for women in medicine.
Dr. Verghese is a best-selling author and a physician with a reputation for his focus on healing in an era where technology often overwhelms the human side of medicine. He received the Heinz Award in 2014 and was awarded the National Humanities Medal, presented by President Barack Obama, in 2015.
Dr. Halamka leads a portfolio of platform businesses at the Mayo Clinic focused on transforming healthcare by leveraging artificial intelligence, connected health care devices, and a network of trusted partners. Trained in emergency medicine and medical informatics, he has been developing and implementing health care information strategy and policy for more than 25 years.
