Mark Dutton received his bachelor of science in physical therapy from the University of Pittsburgh. Mark has worked in all of the various disciplines for approximately 20 years, including inpatient, home health, extended care, and outpatient. As an author for McGraw Hill, APTA’s Academy of Orthopedic Physical Therapy, and Jones & Bartlett, Mark has authored numerous physical therapy and physical therapist assistant texts covering orthopaedics, patient skills, and the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE). Mark is currently working as a senior consultant for Orthorecovery Specialists.
Dr. Burke-Doe is the Program Director/Dean of West Coast Univeristy (WCU) in Los Angeles, California. She received her MPT degree from Univeristy of California at San Francisco and her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University of the Pacific. She brings more than 25 years of physical therapy and teaching experience to her roles. Dr. Burke-Doe is active in the American Physical Therapy Association and the California Physical Therapy Association. She contributes to the PT profession through her research, work, publications and chapter contributions including, Advisory Board for McGraw Hill Accessphysiotherapy, NPTE and Review (McGraw-Hill), Physical Therapy Case Files: Neurological Rehabilitation (McGraw-Hill), Neurologic Rehabilitation (Elsevier) and Pathology Implications for the Physical Therapist (Saunders Elsevier). Dr. Burke-Doe currently teaches pharmacology and interprofessional education at WCU.
Dr Childers is an associate professor with primary teaching responsibilities in Geriatrics and Wellness. Her undergraduate dissertation was related to the impact of Parkinson’s Disease where her passion for the older adult and neurological diagnosis was developed. Dr. Childers completed her PT training in the United Kingdom, her MS in Gerontology in Utah, and completed her PhD in Health Psychology from Walden University. She has served on the Geriatric specialty council and as the chair of the Cognitive and Mental Health special interest group. She is the current director for the Advanced Competency in Home Health certificate with the Home Health Academy.
Christopher Ivey earned a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Humboldt State University. He completed physical therapy training at Western University for Health Sciences and earned an Educational Doctorate from the University of Liverpool. For more than twenty years, his clinical practice-focused on orthopaedic and sports physical therapy, which aligns with the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties designations as an orthopaedic and sports clinical specialist. He is also a certified athletic trainer. While he continues part-time clinical work, he is employed full-time at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in the department of physical therapy education.
Dr. Joanne Laslovich graduated from California State University, Fresno with her B.S. in Physical Therapy and master’s degree in physical education with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology. She earned her DPT from A.T. Still University - Arizona School of Health Sciences and has worked clinically in the acute care, skilled nursing, and outpatient settings. Dr. Laslovich has taught in physical therapy education since 1983 including academic appointments at CSU Fresno, Maryville University -St. Louis, University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences –San Marcos, and West Coast University –Los Angeles. Her primary academic role for 37 years has been in Cardiopulmonary education. Her clinical interest is in cardiac rehabilitation and working with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
