What You Will Learn:
- Understand the evolution of robotic surgery, from early platforms to today’s multi‑player market
- Compare robotic vs. laparoscopic surgery across visualization, dexterity, precision, ergonomics, learning curve, and efficiency
- Explain how current systems function as surgeon‑controlled platforms (not autonomous robots)
- Recognize current limitations: limited haptics, lack of situational awareness, no procedural understanding, and limited real‑time learning from experts
- Identify real‑world adoption barriers: cost, training gaps, operative time, reliability, regulation, and unequal access
- Explore what’s next: the shift from passive tools to collaborative human–machine partners that provide performance feedback and accelerate training
